Who's your expert?

Welcome Back Subscribers!  First, let me apologize as I have let this blog collect some dust...

It's time to go ahead and kick start this thing back up though and I'm excited to have you join me.

So there's one common characteristic I've been noticing lately and this one thing is really the reason for me to start this blog back up with a vengeance! Ok, here it is, there is WAY too much BAD info out there and I come across people everyday that are making HUGE mistakes by listening to people and media sources that don't really have all the info or facts.

One of life's truest and most famous sayings goes something like this.  "Consider the source..."

So what's it mean?  For starters, it means before you take someones advice, consider what that advice may have done for them.  As it relates to mortgages, are these people that are late on the home payment and at risk of losing their home?  Is the source someone who has refinanced their loan 2, 3 or more times and still in a thirty year loan with no hope or plan for early loan payoff?  The point is, most people are not qualified to give advice but yet as soon as people find out their opinion is requested (sometimes that's not even the case) they are pleased to appoint themselves as the expert!!!

Consider that right now we are looking RECORD LOW interest rates.  There's not a single person who should not be considering refinance or purchasing in this market.  You just have to make sure you contact a true expert.  You can email me at azemon@greenwoodlending.com for a copy of my 4 Questions you Must Ask your Lender (and yes I even give you the answers) to make sure you're working with someone who actually knows enough to advise you.

Of course I'm partial to the guy who's sending you the report but after all, this is a free market right?

Please post your comments and suggestions for upcoming topics.  My intent is to update this blog weekly and more frequently as changing conditions dictate.  Please share this blog with your friends, family and coworkers and help me build Central Virginia's most complete Mortgage and Finance Blog!

To your continued financial success!

Welcome
August 28th, 2007 8:51 AM

Welcome to the new Mortgage Planning Resource Blog (MPRB) for short.  This is my first attempt at anything even close to a Blog but my hope is that together we can create one of the best mortgage, real estate and over all financial resource blogs available.  For now I think I'll just let this blog evolve and see where it goes but my hopes are that we can use this tool to properly educate and enlighten the general public.

Here are some facts about the financial state of our country and this should give some clue as to why Mortgage Planning is so important.

  • Over 70% of retired persons are living on less than $10,000 a year in income.
  • 78% of Americans are 90 days from bankruptcy (under old laws a chapter 7 was possible but today a 13 is more likely)  They are living paycheck to paycheck
  • We average a -2% savings rate
  • The average US credit score is a pitiful 672 (pays bills on time but mismanages and over spends on credit)
  • The average american has 16 credit cards and is over $12,000 in debt on credit cards

Now, given the fact that a mortgage is often times a persons largest debt tied to the largest asset they own, wouldn't it make sense to have it properly managed?  Well, if you ask me the answer is yes.

While we are on this topic it's important for you all to know that the State of Virginia is one of MANY states that does NOT require any form of individual licensing to become a mortgage professional.  Given that statistics I have just illustrated I think it's obvious to to see why this many be a problem.  Please take time to read and inform yourself as to who you are talking to and what their qualifications are.  As this industry has seen a vast amount of change over the recent weeks, it's more imperative then ever that you, your family and friends get the advice they deserve.  For more infomation on what is happening in todays mortgage market, please explore the rest of my website as I have designed it to be a source of information first and a business generation tool second.

Thank you for taking the time to sign up for the new MPRB!

Regards,
